Sony Will Sell 120 Millions of PlayStation 3 by 2012?
By 2012 the company promised to sell around 120 millions of Play Station 3. That is around 24 millions sales annually. A successful start of sales of new game console from Sony allows to make such conclusions. On other hand, it is a very optimistic forecast, because Microsoft has sold its Xbox360 three times less.
Another question is whether the PS3 will be up-to-date in more then 4-5 years? Well, I think now – because each year the gaming hardware and graphics become more complex and realistic. I think that by 2010 – the new technology in gaming will make games very realistic and more “clever”. By “clever” I mean the ability of the game to predict what the gamer is gonna do. In other words – a kind of “artificial intellect” of the game.
Xboxes Worth £1m Stolen In Britain
Thieves stole a consignment of Xbox 360 consoles worth £750,000 when they hijacked a lorry shortly after it left a depot near Lichfield, Staffordshire. The robbery comes after a separate incident at the depot, operated by Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, a week ago when a trailer containing Xbox 360s worth £260,000 was taken.
The gang attacked the driver before making off with the lorry. It was later found — empty — on the A38 at Minworth, Warwickshire.
A spokesman for Microsoft said: “The Xbox 360 is Microsoft’s latest, most up-to-date console. It was one of the first next generation consoles because of its features and the power it holds. It is quite an in- demand gadget for Christmas.”
French Film Producer Sues Google France
The producer of "The World According to Bush" has taken legal action against Google for distributing the film for free, becoming the latest media company to seek compensation for lost business on the Internet. French production house Flach Film said on Thursday it had issued a writ against the U.S. Internet search engine and its French arm, Google France, for copyright infringement before a Paris commercial court.
In a statement, Flach Film also warned that a legal Internet video market could not develop if such practices were allowed. "Flach Film requests the court to sentence Google to provide compensation for the loss resulting from these illegal acts," Flach said, adding that it alleged Google had "not acted as a simple host but as a fully responsible publisher."
A spokeswoman for Google France confirmed it had received a complaint from Flach Film after which Google had removed links to the film from its sites. "Our terms and conditions specify that users (Internet surfers) don't have permission to use videos which they don't own the rights to," she said.
IBM Will Cooperate With Novell
IBM will cooperate with Novell, which is the largest IBM partner on the Linux OS market. IBM does not care about the Novell’s agreement with Microsoft; moreover the IBM thinks that it helps further development of Linux OS.
Many businessmen find that cooperation normal because agreement of Novell and Microsoft makes the Linux more attractive for corporate clients.
Microsoft Linux ??
Every day rumors that Microsoft is going to create a Linux (or at least compatible) Operating System are obtaining more and more turnover.
I have made a kind of research on this issue and here are some ideas on that. Recently Microsoft concluded an agreement with Novell. The agreement’s main aim is support of Linux based applications in the Windows environment. Why would Microsoft need Linux?
Now, Google is planning to create a Linux based web integrated OS and Microsoft clearly understands that Windows (especially Windows Vista) is still but continuously loosing its positions in the market. None of 2006 Super Computers have Windows OS, the Servers’ market prefers Linux, BSD systems more and more every year. So, now Microsoft targets mainly at Small Business and Home users. And, extremely high cost of Windows, problems with security, presence of bugs even in RTM version of Vista from one side, and lost cost of Linux, its security, and more user-friendly design from year to year attracts not only Linux maniacs, but also ordinary users, which don’t know what “kernel compilation” is. The bright example is Ubuntu, which was recently voted as Most User-Friendly system.
What Micrsoft has – is long terms of development of new OS.
From all that, Microsoft’s first stage in conquering of Linux segment is developing standard Windows applications for Linux. That is Media Player and Office System. The second stage of this plan is development of Microsoft Linux OS. No one can even imagine how it will look like, but for sure, we can say, that even if there would be one, there will be a lot of bugs and problems.
Ok, lets wait…. Maybe in couple of years, reading news in internet about development of Microsoft Linux OS will be a common thing, like today we read about the cooperation of Microsoft and Novell.
???? - The question stays still open. And I promise to dedicate more 2-3 articles about it at www.danays.blogspot.com

NASA Will Make a VideoGame
The general idea is that NASA's Learning Technologies Office got a small amount of funding to start a prototype NASA-based game. They are now working with the America's Army development team and the Federation of American Scientists to make a short(10 to 20 minutes) prototype. They are using the Unreal 3 engine from Epic, so they're hoping for commercial quality results.
The prototype is expected to be an introduction to NASA's Vision for Space Exploration - apparently, NASA is planning to head back to the moon by 2020, and by 2035, a human on Mars is planned. The prototype is expected to introduce the vision and give people a chance to appreciate the experience of being on the International Space Station and on the moon - separately, of course.
China to Build Massive Solar Power Station
China plans to build one of the world's biggest solar power stations at a cost of 765 million US dollars. The 100-megawatt facility will be built in Dunhuang in northwest China's Gansu Province. The massive project will take 50 years to complete. About 70 percent of China's energy comes from burning fossil fuel and hundreds more coal-fired power plants are still being built every year. China has set goals for renewable energy to account for 16 percent of its overall energy production by 2020
